Using Basic Knowledge from

Scientific, Humanistic/Artistic, Social/Behavioral Fields

Library work requires more than checking-in and checking-out books.  Library science covers scientific, humanistic/artistic, social/behavioral ways of knowing.  Today library staff must be familiar with information technology and scientific study methods, this is especially important in research libraries.  Library staff need to be able to help patrons distinguish between scientific and non-scientific evidence.  They need to help students analyze and evaluate material in their cultural, intellectual or historical contexts.  In collection development, an understanding how social, behavioral, and historical knowledge informs and can shapes personal, ethical, civic engagement.

The course work provided below was selected to show the methods used for observation and reviewing resources.
